Daniells Phillips Vaughan & Bock
Daniells Phillips Vaughan & Bock CPAs and Advisors was founded in 1956 by Leslie Watts, who opened an office at the corner of 18th and Chester. Experiencing steady growth, the firm began doing business as a corporation in 1975 and moved to its present quarters at 300 New Stine Road. Golden Empire Transit
Reaching its goal of having 100% of its bus fleet powered by CNG this year, Golden Empire Transit (GET) was presented a Spirit of the Vision award by the Greater Bakersfield Vision 2020 committee for its efforts to help Bakersfield “get green” and for placing the Bakersfield: Life as it should be messages on the buses. Formed in 1973 and serving the 153-square-mile Bakersfield Metropolitan area, GET services 18 routes, seven days a week, transporting more than six million passengers annually.

Hall Ambulance Service
In 1971, Harvey L. Hall started his own ambulance service with one goal in mind—to provide people with the absolute best in pre-hospital care and transportation. Currently serving as the 9-1-1 Advanced Life Support (ALS)- level provider of emergency ambulance services to the majority of the ambulance-operating areas in Kern County, Hall Ambulance Service expanded its lifesaving resources in December 2001 to include a helicopter response service, which plays an important role in reducing the time to reach critical patients in western and central Kern County rural communities.  Today, Hall Ambulance Service is the largest privately-owned ambulance company in California and remains committed to the standards set 35 years ago, creating the cornerstone of the company’s success.
Kern Schools Federal Credit Union
Kern Schools Federal Credit Union was founded in 1938 and is the largest member-owned financial institution headquartered in Kern County with over 170,000 members, 13 branches, over 60 conveniently-located ATMs and $1.6 billion in assets.  Unlike other financial institutions such as a bank or savings and loan, credit unions are not-for-profit corporations owned solely by its members and carry the industry-wide philosophy of “People Helping People.” Committed to “On The Spot Service,” Kern Schools has been voted the “Best Financial Institution” in Kern County for over 11 years.

Established in 1980, Mid State Development Corporation was licensed in 1981 by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) as a Certified Development Company. Mid State is the major manager of the SBA 504 loan program in Kern County and funds loans for land, buildings and long-life machinery. Now in its 26th year, Mid State created 376 jobs and brokered 38 projects in fiscal year 2005, giving a boost to area economics.
Occidental of Elk Hills, Inc.

Occidental’s Elk Hills operation, a 47,000 acre oil and gas field in western Kern County, is the largest natural gas producer and the third largest oil producer in California.  Elk Hills is ideally situated to help meet California’s energy demands due to its significant reserves and proximity to both Northern and Southern California markets.  Working with the California Department of Fish and Game and the US Fish and Wildlife Service, Occidental has set aside about 8,000 acres as a habitat conservation area for endangered and threatened species.  Oxy Elk Hills is proud to be a part of the community with its support of many educational institutions and non-profit organizations including California State University Bakersfield, the United Way of Kern County and the Bakersfield Homeless Center.

San Joaquin Community Hospital
San Joaquin Community Hospital now operates a hospital, home health agency, the Buck Owens Wellness Resource Center for diabetes education, and Bariatric Solutions, a weight-loss center. Part of San Joaquin Community Hospital’s $80 million investment in the health of the community is a new 130,000 square-foot tower, which doubled the size of the facility and expanded many needed services. The multi-phase construction project also includes a 392-space parking structure and a complete seismic retrofit and remodel of the existing hospital facility, bringing the entire hospital up to California’s seismic standards.

Stinson's Stationers, Inc.
The Stinson tradition of service and customer satisfaction began in 1916 when Ben F. Stinson Sr. arrived in Bakersfield to establish the Stinson Grocery Company that would flourish for over 20 years. Transferring the lessons learned from his father, son Ben Jr. established Stinson Stationers in 1947. By 1952, the business moved to the corner of Baker and Kentucky, where extra square footage allowed for the addition of a warehouse and delivery service. In 1966, the business grew to its current location, with expanded delivery to offices throughout Kern County. In 1981, Ben III became president of the now-incorporated company. The spirit and tradition continues today as Stinson’s celebrates 60 years of service to the community.
