Hall Ambulance Service
In 1971, Harvey L. Hall started his own ambulance service with one goal in mind—to provide people with the absolute best in pre-hospital care and transportation. Jim Burke Ford
The Jim Burke dealerships began in 1964 when Jim Burke acquired Haberfelde Ford after being employed there since 1948 in various management capacities. Haberfelde Ford, established in 1913, was then located downtown before being moved to the present 20 acre site on Oak Street in 1977. At that time the dealership name was changed to Jim Burke Ford, and Haberfelde Ford is the corporate name. Today, it is one of the biggest Ford dealerships in the nation with two locations, downtown and the automall. Though Jim Burke died in 2006, the Ford Lincoln Jaguar dealerships, rental agency, collision care and commercial leasing companies are still family owned and employ about 260 people. Dan Hay, Jim Burke's son-in-law, serves as President and attributes the company's success to the employees who have built lasting relationships through great customer service.
Kern Schools Federal Credit Union

Occidental Petroleum
Occidental Petroleum Corporation (Oxy) is the No. 1 natural gas producer and second-largest oil producer in California and holds approximately 1.3 million acres of net fee minerals and leaseholds in the state. With two subsidiaries headquartered in Kern County — Vintage Production California LLC and Occidental of Elk Hills Inc. — Oxy is ideally situated to help meet energy demands in both Northern and Southern California markets. In 2009, Oxy announced a significant discovery of oil and gas reserves in Kern County that is believed to be the largest oil and gas discovery in the state in more than 35 years. Oxy also provides vital power supplies to California through its 50-percent ownership in the Elk Hills 550 MW Power Plant, which generates enough electricity annually to supply 420,000 homes.
Working with the California Department of Fish and Game and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Oxy has set aside about 8,000 acres in Kern County as a habitat conservation area for endangered and threatened species. This award-winning program is certified by the Wildlife Habitat Council.

Stinson's Stationers, Inc.
The Stinson tradition of service and customer satisfaction began in 1916 when Ben F. Stinson Sr. arrived in Bakersfield to establish the Stinson Grocery Company that would flourish for over 20 years. Transferring the lessons learned from his father, son Ben Jr. established Stinson Stationers in 1947. By 1952, the business moved to the corner of Baker and Kentucky, where extra square footage allowed for the addition of a warehouse and delivery service.
