Committees

The Greater Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce relies on its committees, task forces and councils to drive the programs that make us so successful. We can't do it without you, get involved today!

We need you to help ensure that the Chamber's legacy of business leadership extends into the 21st century, so please consider joining one of the groups that meets each month to help guide the work of the Chamber that is so critical to our success as an organization. We urge you to add your voice to our work as we build a dynamic new slate of Chamber events, activities and programs to help us face the challenges and seize the opportunities that will strengthen your business and build a brighter future for Bakersfield.

All meetings are held at the Chamber's office (1725 Eye Street), except occasional offsite meetings as announced.

Ambassadors/Mixer Committee
Meets from 11:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on the Fourth Tuesday of the Month
The Ambassador/Mixer Committee is the volunteer face of public relations for the Chamber. The committee's members welcome new businesses to the community and celebrating major milestones at ground breaking, ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremonies. This committee organizes and facilitates events where Chamber members network in a social atmosphere that also provides a forum for member businesses to showcase their locations, products and services.

Beautiful Bakersfield Committee
Meets from 11:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on the First Wednesday of the Month (October through June)
The Beautiful Bakersfield Committee coordinates the Beautiful Bakersfield Awards, an event that promotes the city and people of Bakersfield. The awards are presented to Bakersfield's businesses, organizations and citizens during a banquet and televised ceremony in June of each year.

Business Development Committee
Meets from 11:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on the Fourth Monday of the Month
The Business Development Committee develops and implements seminars that help businesses enhance operations through educational, informative sessions. This committee works to create a strong local economy by giving member businesses the tools they need to succeed.

Energy Committee
Meets from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. on the Third Wednesday of the Month
The Energy Committee works toward enhancing public awareness of the importance of the energy industry to the community's economy and quality of life. This committee provides a forum for identifying and discussing common issues affecting the energy industry and consumers. The Energy Committee also provides counsel to the Chamber's Board of Directors.

Governmental Review Council
Meets from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Each Friday
The Governmental Review Council provides a basis for the Chamber to act on local, state and federal government issues, works to create a favorable business climate, reviews city, county, state and federal legislation for Board positions. While the Council is composed of voting members selected by a nominating committee, Chamber members are encouraged to attend as non-voting members, to participate in discussion and to bring legislative issues that affect business to the attention of the Council.

International Business and Trade Committee

Special Fundraising Event Task Force
A task force is convened to plan the Chamber's fundraising event(s) each year. This group meets for several months prior to scheduled event(s) to plan, organize and implement these important events that help fund the Chamber's programs.
