Regulatory issues, eco-economics and green opportunites share stage at Energy & Clean Air Expo
Join the Greater Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce and Valley CAN for the 2010 Energy & Clean Air Expo taking place on February 16 at the Bakersfield Marriott at the Convention Center. The Expo will offer a unique opportunity for local business leaders to interact with key state and regional regulators. The focus of the expo will be success and sustainability as well as the challenges and opportunities of a low carbon world.
The Chamber is proud to host two keynoters and a panel of local business leaders to lead the discussion. The morning’s free kick-off presentation will feature Seyed Sadredin, Director of the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District. The morning program will also feature the Greater Bakersfield Green Business Awards, honoring public and private efforts that have achieved success while emphasizing a commitment to sustainability.
Free breakout sessions will feature presentations on the Valley Air District’s new rideshare rules for large employers, green building techniques, and practical advice and best practices on making your business “greener.”
Other FREE highlights will include E-waste recycling provided by BARC; a trade show showcasing clean air and energy products and services, and free hybrid test drives provided by Jim Burke Ford.
The luncheon keynote by Mary Nichols, Chair of the California Air Resources Board, will focus on the Air Board’s role in the implementation of AB32, the state’s landmark greenhouse gas reduction law. Closing out the speaker portion of the event will be a panel of local business leaders -- Bruce Freeman, Castle & Cooke California, Inc., and Joe MacIlvaine, Paramount Farming Company -- discussing their operations and ways that they have worked to meet or beat the regulatory requirements as well as remain successful. Our Eco-Economics panel will focus on the challenges and opportunities of a low-carbon future.
Cost to attend the keynote luncheon is $40 per person. Register for lunch online, call 661-327-4421 or e-mail info@bakersfieldchamber.org.
