Applications are being accepted for the Inc. 5,000 awards. The Inc. 5,000 is Inc. magazine’s and Inc.com’s annual list of the fastest growing private companies in America. Since 1982, the Inc. list has featured many companies before they became world-renowned, including Oracle, Patagonia, E*Trade, American Apparel, and Zipcar. In 2007, the list expanded to the Inc. 500|5000, giving readers a deeper, richer understanding of the entrepreneurial landscape and capturing a broader spectrum of success. The list is a distinguished editorial award, a published celebration of innovation, a network of modern entrepreneurial leaders, and an esteemed public relations showcase published by the leading entrepreneurial advocate for 30 years running.
All 5000 companies are individually profiled on Inc.com. The top 500—the Inc. 500—are featured in the September issue of Inc. magazine. The Inc. 5,000 is an editorial award and there are no fees involved with entering or qualifying. Past local Chamber member honorees have included ARRC Technology, Lightspeed Systems, and Processes Unlimited International, Inc.

In addition to the nationwide Inc. 500/5000 ranking, Inc. compiles “Top Lists” to recognize the top fastest growing companies in certain categories. In previous years, Top Lists have included: Fastest-growing women-run businesses; fastest-growing minority-run businesses; fastest growing companies by metro area; fastest-growing companies by industry; top company by overall revenue; top company by total number of employees.
