In 1999, the Greater Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce realized that in order to enhance the Chamber’s ability to advocate on behalf of the business community, we needed a mechanism that enabled us to engage in the political process at the earliest stage.  This realization led to the formation of the Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce Political Action Committee, commonly referred to as BCCPAC.  The BCCPAC provides our Chamber with another instrument in the advocacy tool box that allows us to direct financial support to state and local pro-jobs candidates and ballot measures.

Since its inception in 1999 the BCCPAC has supported numerous candidates for public office including candidates for Governor, Attorney General, State Senate, State Assembly, County Supervisor and City Council among others.  The BCCPAC has a separate governing board composed of 13 voting members.  This board includes several members of the Chambers current Board of Directors as well as the President/CEO of the Chamber.  In 2007, the BCCPAC adopted a fundraising strategy that will allow the BCCPAC to increase its activities in support of candidates that understand the importance of creating and maintaining a vibrant business climate in California, Kern County and Bakersfield.
