Bakersfield Municipal Airport in the southeast metropolitan area offers charter, executive and aviation services and is home to 100 general aviation aircraft as well as support facilities.
For passenger rail service, Amtrak’s San Joaquin Route offers service to San Francisco, Oakland, Sacramento, Stockton, Fresno and Hanford to the north. Throughway buses provide service to Los Angeles, Irvine, Fullerton, Anaheim, Santa Ana, Oceanside and San Diego to the south and to major airport connections both north and south. The award-winning Amtrak station ranks as the busiest in the San Joaquin corridor and is touted as “the jewel of the San Joaquin line.” Featuring over 8,300 square feet of enclosed space and enhanced landscaping with three water displays, Bakersfield’s Amtrak is a staffed station offering checked baggage service, an enclosed waiting area and free short- and long-term parking. Golden Empire Transit (GET) operates 18 fixed routes on weekdays with reduced service on weekends. It services a 155-square-mile area, with annual boardings of approximately seven million. Bakersfield customers have access to a fleet of 80 compressed natural gas buses that offer a safe, environmentally clean and inexpensive alternative to automobiles. Call 869-2GET.

Airport Bus of Bakersfield (395-0635) provides transportation to and from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), and Greyhound (327-5617) offers comfortable access to destinations across the nation.
