State of the City Luncheon Forum

The city’s proposed sales tax initiative, economic development, homelessness and rebranding efforts were just some of the topics discussed at the 2018 State of the City Luncheon on July 11.

In front of a sold-out crowd of 450 attendees at the Bakersfield Marriott at the Convention Center, Mayor Karen Goh took the podium first, focusing her address on efforts to rebrand Bakersfield. City Manager Alan Tandy’s presentation centered on the proposed one-cent sales tax initiative that will go before voters in November.
